A family-friendly orienteering event at Hagley Park will be ideal for beginners, family groups, and those wanting a challenge or training for The Spring Challenge.
The fundraising event will offer attendees a variety of courses to try; including a score event where participants will be required to collect as many points by visiting as many specific sites around the park as they can in 60 minutes, an introductory Orienteering course, and a novel course to test their map reading skills. Experienced Orienteers will be on hand to help.
Proceeds from the day will go towards supporting Sonia Hollands (19), Nick Smith (17), Sophie Harrison (17), and Ed (17) and Katie Cory-Wright (15), the five Canterbury-based members of the 12-person strong NZ Junior Orienteering team competing at the Junior World Champs in Rauland, Norway next month.
The fundraising event is being held in Hagley Park on Sunday 14th June from 10.30am to 1.30pm. The start/finish area is in North Hagley Park off Deans Ave near the roundabout.
Food and coffee will be available to purchase.
