A Micronaut in the Wide World: The Imaginative Life and Times of Graham Percy rediscovers the life and work of one of New Zealand's most talented and original artists

Graham Percy lived in London for most of his life, yet still produced works that were quintessentially Kiwi. The idea of a “micronaut” encapsulates what it’s like to be a traveller from a small country, exploring other, older lands. In illustrations like "A Kiwi in Venice", in which our national bird dons a frilly cravat and a masque, we see reflected the experience of the New Zealander in a foreign country. Yet with his "Culture" triptych, where kiwis view the work of Colin McCahon, Percy shows that his heart remains with his country of birth.

This is the chance to see some of Percy’s most celebrated work in its last public appearance.
