The Nukes -
‘different folk’

The Nukes are far more than a ukulele band. They are high entertainment.
Part Vaudeville, part rat-pack, part musical car crash. This talented trio deliver an engaging mix of humour and originality that audiences love.

The Nukes have within a few years of being together toured in NZ and Australia, performed at a ton of music and arts festivals such as WOMAD and have released two albums.

Here’s what a few festival directors have said
“The Nukes blew the audiences’ socks off with the combination of humour, fantastic song-writing, great musicianship and singing, “
‘Original’ inventive and entertaining….
“A night out not to be missed! “
“the Nukes experience is uplifting, fun and feel- good. “

And now ladies and gentlemen, The Nukes are thrilled to announce the arrival of album no 2, Lucky Ones. Bursting out of the blocks fully formed, striding purposefully forth in a perfectly cut suit, waving with a presidential smile.

Reviews have been glowing about their new material
“ Highly intriguing and really skilful- a great mix of folk, bluegrass and reggae.”. - Grant Smithies, Radio NZ

“Lucky ones is a revelation, standing comparison with any acoustic- folk songwriter act”… “a variety of beautifully arranged and harmonised songs, that are unpretentious, kiwi-as, yet neatly avoiding the instruments clichéd cutesiness”. - NZ Musician Magazine

"I am new to playing the ukulele and decided to go along to one of The Nukes workshops after an inspiring concert they put on in my town. The workshop was fantastic fun. I learnt a whole lot and I had a real blast at the same time." - Fiona Cairn, Napier
