The Prisoner, is a musical production written by Waiwera local and Kingsway School Senior Biology Teacher, Chris Wyatt - as a consequence of his struggle with multiple myeloma cancer in 2014. The Prisoner - comes to life in October 17th – 24th.

This all-original production uses the story of John the Baptist to grapple with the age-old question; “Why do bad things happen to good people?”

Chris says: "The treatment was horrendous and I faced death several times. I had questions of why this had happened to me. I started reading one book on John the Baptist and it impressed me. The author used him to grapple with the question and I thought it would make a good musical. John was fulfilling great promises over his life and yet he ended up in prison... There are positive ways of dealing with the troubles of life. There is a purpose for it all."

Chris set up Crossbridge Theatre, a Christian Community Theatre Company and hopes that The Prisoner is the first of many original musical productions written & produced by Crossbridge Theatre Company. Inspirational stories with lessons to be learned and enjoyed.

The Prisoner will be at the Centrestage Theatre in Orewa from October 17-24 with a very special charity fundraiser for Leukaemia and Blood Cancer New Zealand on Tuesday 20th October.
