Feel the pulse of taiko drumming, heart warming waiata along with loads more Japanese culture and help us celebrate 20 years of friendship (tomodachi) between Minoh City, Japan and Lower Hutt.

Minoh City mayor Tetsuro Kurata will be visiting with a group from Minoh to be part of the formal celebrations starting at 1.30pm in the Little Theatre.

Free entertainment and demonstrations from 2.30pm include Taiko drumming, Tea Ceremonies demonstrated by Minoh City residents, Kaito children’s dance, sumo, calligraphy, karate demonstrations and displays.

And test your Japanese with a live link back to Minoh City – usually available 7 days at the War Memorial Library.
