Vocal jazz & flute with a latin twist

Jazz vocalist and flutist Trudy Lile will be joined by some of New Zealand’s most professional and experienced musicians. The music features great vocal arrangements and songs from the American Songbook, by George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, Richard Rodgers and as well as exciting original compositions with infectious jazz grooves. Trudy is influenced vocal greats Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Anita O’Day, and contemporary artists such as Dianne Reeves, Anne-Hampton-Calloway, Gretchen Parlato, and Rachael Price, Tomas Stanko, all delivered with warm acoustic sensitivity.

Trudy Lile is well known for her passionate performances, and well arranged expansive repertoire. She has appeared at Jazz Festivals throughout New Zealand with this band for the last 10 years. She graduated with MMus from New Zealand School of Music in 2009, where she now teaches. Highlights in the last year include a performance at The Magnetic Jazz festival in Australia, a concert performance at the invitation of renowned US saxophonists Bennie Maupin (USA) (Herbie Hancock - Headhunters) and Dick Oatts (USA)(Vanguard Jazz Orchestra), a performance for his Excellency The Archbishop of Canterbury, and being flown to the Caribbean to perform on the exclusive luxury ship, The World.

Her vocal style has been described “beautifully chosen songs and a wonderfully fearless performer” - John Hoffman, trumpet (Woody Herman Band).

Tom Tom presents some of the finest jazz musicians in Auckland, every Sunday from 2pm.

A newly developed Gastrobar, Tom Tom is housed in a historically significant site which has been protected and enhanced. Elevated above Victoria Park affording northern views through leafy tree tops, Tom Tom exudes a slick downtown vibe whilst sympathetic to the buildings industrial heritage.
