Share a night of farce and fundraising to champion the cause of Auckland Women’s Refuge!

Award-winning comedians will tickle your funny bones whilst Bird on a Wire spoils your palate with complimentary canapés and delights.

The legendary Classic Comedy and Bar are hosting this major fundraiser on Sunday 4th October. The extravaganza of hilarity is available at $35 per person with tickets limited to 120 - all proceeds will go towards the work of Auckland Women's Refuge.

Stellar performers from the New Zealand International Comedy Festival, television and film are generously donating their talents on the night. Cori Gonzalez-Macuer ("What We Do in the Shadows") headlines the show with champions TM Bishop, James Nokise, Irene Pink, Rhys Mathewson and The Fan Brigade.

Auckland Women's Refuge needs heroes to support an agency that works with women and children trying to lead safer lives free from violence. We provide safe houses, a crisis helpline, training programmes and advocacy service engaging with law enforcement, social welfare, health care and housing providers. Our work also extends to supporting hundreds of women living in the community.

On a national scale, a crisis or information call is answered every seven minutes of every day.

Our refuges provided 79,057 safe beds for women and children last year - this figure translates into an average of 216 women and children each night who did not feel safe enough to stay in their own beds. Police launched more than 100,000 family violence investigations with 63,000 of these incidents linked to at least one child under the age of 16. In this period, 10 children and young people, 5 women and 2 men were killed in family violence homicides. With 722 refuge staff throughout the nation, nearly half are working to deliver critical services unpaid or as volunteers – our everyday heroes! Although funded by government, this does not meet the full needs of the refuges. Grants and donations account for only 17% of income, and more is needed.

Join our comedy for charity mission by purchasing tickets today!

This show is too fun to miss! For those unable to attend, you can still contribute to the cause by bidding on our TradeMe auctions or donating through our organisation.

Proudly sponsored by The Classic Comedy & Bar, Bird on a Wire, Scarecrow, Benefit Cosmetics, Colour Copy & Print Ltd and Red Badge Group.
