Get inspired by Massey University environmental anthropologist Trisia Farrelly as she shares her ventures in educating and changing our use of plastics.

The plastics industry works hard to present synthetic hormones in plastics as ‘no cause for concern’ despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary. Dr Tricia Farrelly is an environmental anthropologist at Massey and cofounder of the lobby group Carrying Our Future.

Tricia talks about the potential public health and environmental impacts of synthetic hormones in household plastics and discuss the impact lobby groups and concerned scientists have had on BPA and phthalate regulations in the US. She also suggests why synthetic hormones in plastics are not publicly discussed and why they remain unregulated in New Zealand.

She also provides some simple and practical suggestions for avoiding them.
