Wazzo Clash is a New Zealand-based tribute band to The Clash. The band takes it’s name from an earlier incarnation of the line-up. From the mid eighties to the early nineties they performed as Wazzo Ghoti. Unashamedly influenced by The Clash and other English punk bands, they performed around New Zealand and released an album, Gone Ghoting, and a couple of cassettes. Wazzo Ghoti suffered the loss of their drummer, Bill Morris (aka Joe Drummer), to a head injury following a vicious assault. Bill never recovered sufficiently to rejoin the band and is now a performance poet and aspiring writer. They performed for the next few years with various guest drummers (one of which was Pat McLaughlin, the original drummer in Wazzo Clash) until Chris Goodall moved to England. He returned in December 2001, just as Mark was recruiting members for a Clash tribute band. Mark Hamill, formerly of HLAH, replaced Pat McLaughlin on drums in late 2003 and the band has continued to expand their repertoire and have performed around New Zealand to enthusiastic crowds.

Wazzo Clash will be joined by UnderWire and Tory PopeStar will DJ
