A Celebration of Wine and Food!

It is a three-day celebration of Wine and Food at the New Zealand School of Food and Wine (NZSFW) from 13 – 15 September, with an impressive line-up of amazing wines from some of NZ’s most illustrious wineries, a showcase of food and produce from local Auckland artisan producers, hands-on cooking workshops, free cooking demonstrations, master-classes and much more!

The W&F Wine and Food celebration returns to the NZ School of Food and Wine from the 13 – 15 September 2015, with an incredible line-up of food and wines to taste during the event, interactive cooking classes as well as the nationally-acclaimed wine professional competitions that makes this unique experience a highlight on every foodie and wine lover’s calendar.

The three-day celebration will see the return of the New Zealand Sommelier of the Year, Junior Sommelier of the Year and Young New Zealand Wine Professional of the Year competitions, as well as a special Food and Wine Dynamics experience with Chef and Wine Educator, Celia Hay. To enter into the competitions, please visit http://event.foodandwine.co.nz/Sommelier.

The New Zealand Wine Room will present wines from around the country with Master of Wine Bob Campbell hosting ‘walkabouts’ during the wine tasting sessions. A separate regional tasting of Italian wines is also a feature with Auckland-based author and wine writer Joelle Thomson leading a series of Italian tastings.

Foodies will not be left wanting as local Auckland artisan food producers will showcase their wares along with free cooking demonstrations with a “How to” theme. Chef Stefan Loetscher will teach How to smoke a fish as well how to make successful sourdough breads. Chef Philippe Meyer will be creating amazing sourdough-based doughnuts and demonstrating How to ferment your food. A hands-on Mexican Street Food workshop with Chef Alfredo Icedo Romero will be a highlight.

For coffee-lovers, there is an opportunity to discover the art of coffee cupping with a selection of single origin coffees from around the world. ‘The climax of the event will be the Single Origin Master-class,’ says Celia Hay, founder of the New Zealand School of Food and Wine. ‘There’s a huge interest in coffee in NZ and this one day programme gives people the chance to taste and learn about coffees that can be traced to their region with authentic tastes of a single origin. Just like wine, coffee tasting, or cupping as it is known in the trade, is a whole new stimulating subject.’

‘We also hope visitors will enjoy the artisan producers showcase, which will look exclusively at boutique producers in Auckland who truly deserve to be given more recognition.’

The Wine and Food New Zealand Celebration runs from September 13 to 15 at the New Zealand School of Food and Wine in Auckland’s Customs St West, Viaduct.
