Te Hā ki Tāmaki (Auckland Māori Writers) invite writers of all ethnicity, genre and experience to a Writer's Retreat, also known as "Te Motu-arai-roa: A Waiheke Wānanga". Our members range from Taupō to Lake Waikaremoana to Cape Reinga and everywhere in between.

A pōwhiri or welcome ceremony is planned for Fri 16 Oct at 7pm so you'll need to be at the entrance to Piritahi Marae 6.45pm. The retreat is scheduled to conclude at 2pm on Sun 18 Oct.
Sat 17 Oct will start with a voluntary dawn ceremony on Pukeatua mountain followed by breakfast before we kick into the day's workshops. You'll be able to choose one of four in the morning and again in the afternoon.

Subject to change, workshops will be run by reputable facilitators and are planned to consist of:
- Digital storytelling
- Writing in Te Reo Maori
- Writing Fiction
- Writing for Rangatahi (Youth)
- Poetry
- Writing for the Screen
- Writing Non-Fiction
- Spoken Word
- The Writer's Life / Wellbeing

There are events planned for Friday and Saturday nights plus Sunday is a tribute to Hone Tuwhare at Waiheke Library.
