In the early 1940's, the brothers Villa Boas - Orlando, Claudio and Leonardo - enlisted on a mission to venture Central Brazil. Along the way they engaged in defence of indigenous peoples and their cultures. Enchanted by the culture and customs of the natives, they did not imagine that a tragedy was about to take place: a flu outbreak, brought by them almost wiped out an indigenous village. Along this journey they faced battles, opened 1500km of new paths, navigated more than 1000 kilometres on wild rivers, opened 19 airfields in the jungle, created 43 new towns and made first contact with 14 wild unknown tribes. The movie shows the struggle to create the "Xingu National Park", the first large Indian reserve in Brazil, and the efforts made to save entire tribes, that turned the Villas Boas in Brazilian heroes.
