Come all ye shower warblers and closet crooners! “This is not your normal choir where you stand with music scores in hand, stiff and unmoving, paying rigid attention to each detailed note. This is about freeing your voice, rediscovering music in your body, learning by ear and building community. It’s about breathing and moving and releasing your voice”.

Current international research is confirming the extraordinary benefits of singing together. “A Choired Taste” repertoire is eclectic with world, gospel, folk, taize, traditional and even some pop songs. Brigid says members often report a general sense of elation, energy and well being after a session.” Its really fun!” “The feedback is absolutely wonderful”. And, of course, there are no auditions.

Director Brigid Sinclair has been running community choirs for over eight years bringing her own funny, energising quirky approach to the mix. She has always sung, including with various bands and session musos in London, but has now discovered the ‘privilege’ of getting others singing. There are few activities that build a sense of belonging and healing and fun like singing together. She collaborates with fellow director friends internationally, sharing repertoire and arrangements and is a member of the Natural Voice Practitioners Network.

Recently moved to Whangarei, Brigid says she is really looking forward to starting up the new adult’s choir on Wednesday evenings. “I fully expect ‘A Choired Taste Whangarei’ to be absolutely fabulous”. Leave all the “I can’t sing at the door”. “You really can”, according to Brigid. She will also be running workshops a couple of times a year.
