Wild Atlantic Wit returns to New Zealand

After an 8 year absence since his whirlwind fringe success, Irish musician, comedian, rogue and raconteur Aindrias de Staic from Galway is back to New Zealand.

The quirky TV presenter and comic storyteller brings his music-comedy-storytelling spectacle firstly to the inaugural Coastella International Music Festival, then onwards into the South Island.

Internationally, Aindrias is renowned for his one-man theatre show, "Around the World on 80 Quid," which won Best Solo Show at the New Zealand Fringe, secured Aindrias the nomination for Most Outstanding Performer at the Dunedin Fringe Festival 2008 and amassed rave reviews throughout Australia.

Aindrias’ rich n' rare style of fiddle playing is as unique to the west of Ireland as his storytelling, antics and humour. This "wild-eyed shock of Celtic unpredictability” blends stories with a range of Italian, Greek and gypsy music. Armed with only a fiddle, a loop pedal and epic storytelling, the characteristic magnetism of this vagabond raconteur won over the hipsters and entertained the masses back home to standing ovations and rave reviews.

Aindrias has enjoyed widespread success with his latest one-man endeavor - a huge hit with sold-out shows at Cobblestones and Whelan's in Dublin, the Westport Arts Festival, the Vodafone Comedy Carnival in Galway, and most recently at Dublin's Grand Social during the Five Lamps Arts Festival.

Since graduating from the fringe circuit internationally, Aindrias continues to enjoy performing from London's West End, Edinburgh and Australia, but he's delighted to be coming back to New Zealand:

"I have such fond memories of New Zealand, I'm delighted with this opportunity to get back to the land of the long white cloud!"

Aindrias de Staic is an actor, musician, comedian and modern-day day storyteller. Born in Ireland, but belonging to the world, Aindrias cannot be pigeonholed as a performer. He is his own unique and authentic brand of Irish entertainment. Catch the craic with de Staic when he treats audiences to an extraordinary evening of music, magic and mayhem!

Aindrias has confirmed performances at Coastella Festival in Paraparaumu, as well as performances in Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin and Queenstown Queenstown before heading to Sydney for the Irish Film Festival. Check www.aindrias.com for more information.
