This solo exhibition of Alan Collins Watercolours, includes over 30 new paintings featuring scenes from Pencarrow through to Kapiti.

Alan has a skill to recognise a great watercolour subject and sees beautiful things in humble places where other people see nothing just as the French painter Camille Pissarro was inspired over 100 years ago. Alan is a ‘plein air’ (outdoors) artist and after he finds an outdoor vantage point, he perches on a rock or leans on a fence post then draws and paints how his eyes perceive the subject. In his world of watercolours, finely drafted landscapes and seascapes come to rest lightly on the paper. His paintings have sunlight sparkling on the water, soft billowing clouds, jewel like colours for vegetables in the market place and the soft greens of spring foliage.

Alan is in his 90th youthful year. He is a long standing Eastbourne identity and his world revolves around his wife Sally, their dog Molly and his love of watercolour painting. He is an elected Artist member of the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts and a member of Watercolour New Zealand.
