After having sadly had to postpone our concert originally scheduled for 16 April, we are delighted to be able to invite you to enjoy the music of Mozart, Purcell, Parry and Whitbourn, featuring Douglas Mews on the organ of St Peter's, soprano saxophonist Chris Buckland, and vocal soloists Sharon Yearsley (soprano), Maaike Christie-Beekman (alto), Jamie Young (tenor), and Simon Christie (bass).

The title comes from Parry’s anthem Hear my words, ye people, a work for choir, soloists and organ which finishes with his own hymn tune Laudate Dominum (O praise ye the Lord). The best-known of the works in the programme is Mozart’s Vesperae solennes de Confessore, K.339 — which includes the famous soprano solo Laudate Dominum. By contrast few will have heard The "Son of God Mass" by English composer James Whitbourn; this features soprano saxophone which gives the mass a very contemporary feel. The programme also includes Purcell’s joyful settings of Te Deum and Jubilate in D. This is an exciting programme and one not to be missed.

If you have a ticket for our original performance date, it will be honoured.
