Wellington Cathedral of St Paul is giving children aged 7-12 a chance to experience what it is like to be a Cathedral Chorister with its annual Chorister for a Day programme on October 8 from 2pm-5pm.

The afternoon programme will include rehearsing music with the Cathedral Choristers, taking a tour of the Cathedral (including the hidden bits that people don’t often get to see!) and taking part in a service complete with robes. Parents and caregivers are free to observe the proceedings and to chat with the present Chorister’s parents and Cathedral staff about the value and commitment involved with being a Cathedral Chorister. Arrangements can then be made for individual auditions to join the choir.

All that is required is a donation of $5 to cover expenses for afternoon tea.

Choristers make lifelong friendships and receive excellent musical training from internationally trained musicians, as well as the knowledge that they belong to a tradition that has stretched back 1000 years.
