Welcome to the book launch of Ben’s New Zealand. A night of food, wine, music and poetry. A multimedia visual feast of those looking to build a better NZ; be that in building communities, promoting sustainability, hands on grass roots environmentalism, technology, art, food, or creative tourism. Followed by a quick book signing and then let the 'hobbit knees' up begin.

Entry is koha which will be donated to NZ Whale and Dolphin Trust.

In January 2014 author and publicist Ben Vidgen decided to hitch-hike around New Zealand from Slope Point in the south to the very top of Cape Reinga. On the trip Ben swam with dolphins, dived with sharks, visited the land of the giant eagles and played with pretty pistols. He got chased by angry orcs (on motorbikes), paddled down mighty rivers on his quest to chat with a tree god, interviewed ‘wizards' and those seeking to leave a legacy of hope as they follow in the wake of Paikea Nuku Roa. Ben found himself on the trail of this mighty humpback who guided the first of the great navigators to this land of wonder, as legends and synchronicity combined to create a great adventure that was half Indiana Jones half Bridget Jones Diaries in its lessons and ultimate outcome.

Ben learned the laws of science and the laws of the heart have more in common than he would have ever expected.

The choice is simple: have an amazing life in the knowledge that whatever the odds, this is the one life you get to live and you one chance to leave a legacy; or create your own self fulfilling/self imprisoning prophecy of doom. This book is about an ordinary kiwi who chose the former and rejected the latter by living an exceptional life and saying no to the 'Fear Factory' that has such an impact on our day to day lives from the macro of big world politics to the micro of interpersonal relationships.

Ben Vidgen dares you to walk through the back of the wardrobe as he takes you on a time traveling tour of the real Middle Earth you have known until now as New Zealand.

Fringe tags; literature, community, multi-media.
