It's a winter's night in Wellington 1964 and the Beatles are playing a gig at the Town Hall. Teenage girls, Fran and Jillian, have snuck out to meet the Fab Four but find themselves in the dressing room of The Everly Brothers.

Don and Phil are down on their luck, struggling to write another hit song and battle their inner demons while being supported by a young drummer from Hamilton and an ex-rockabilly radio personality who has booked them into the deerstalkers hall. What price will Fran and Jillian have to pay to meet their real idols? And is this really Bye Bye Love for Don and Phil.

The play first debuted in the early 90s and toured NZ with Michael Galvin and Tim Balme playing the lead roles.

Blue Sky Boys will have you thinking about fame, family and the price of love. And will leave you singing those old familiar hits like Wake Up Little Susie and Cathy’s Clown well into the long weekend.

Thanks to generous grants from the Isaac Theatre Royal, ASB and Creative NZ, Riccarton Players are proud to present this strictly limited season of NZ Playwright Ken Duncum’s Blue Sky Boys in the Isaac Theatre Royal’s Gloucester Room.
