Where: Lions of Bombay, Paparata Road, Bombay, Auckland

Restrictions: All Ages

Listed by: Ian Grayson

On 18 March 1865 the ship "Bombay" arrived from England. She was towed into Auckland by the warship ‘Curacoa’, having lost a large portion of her masts and rigging in a terrible storm off the coast of New Zealand. On board were 400 assisted immigrants destined for the area now called Bombay where they were to settle on their promised 10 acre allotments. To reach their new home they travelled along the Gt South Rd from Drury to Bombay, a road just been completed by the army. The 10k, 15k and half marathon courses are along the path they would have travelled.

Starting at 8am the event is finished late morning and the day continues with stalls and other activities.
