At the Saturday Stomp & Holler we celebrate all that is Americana; bringing you performances from musicians that draw upon this rich cannon of roots music in all its forms; gravely blues, foot-stomping folk, rough house Celtic and sweet lonesome old time country, to name but a few.

Expect to hear harmonicas, banjos and fiddles; three point harmonies and one 'man' bands singing popular classics and underground traditions with true grit and soul.

On Saturday the 15th of October our featured lunch time special guest is a Lyttelton-based singer-songwriter, Brendan Gregg. Followed by an evening session from veteran guitar picker, Davey Backyard.

Brendan started his life in music as a teenager, in the late 80’s he was writing songs and playing drums for Christchurch band The Holy Toledos.

Since then he has sung, picked and strummed on more stages with more bands than he cares to share, he is an accomplished instrumentalist and has recorded with many musicians on dozens of albums in recent years; including instrumental sessions for Opshop and The Eastern.

Nowadays, between plotting his next recording and playing live with local legends The Black Velvet Band and the Eastern, Brendan works the solo circuit in Christchurch, applying his acoustic guitar, his harmonicas and his voice (described as “honey-smoked gravel”) to his own masterfully crafted songs and his effortless renditions of well-loved favourites from the folk, country and popular writers who’ve influenced the landscape of his rich musical career.
