Have you ever wondered what it’s like to go into places like Syria, Yemen or Sri Lanka during a conflict to carry out research and document human rights abuses?

Have you ever wondered who does it?

Wonder no more. Dr. Anna Neistat leads and oversees Amnesty International’s research worldwide.

While some lawyers go to battle in the courtroom and the boardroom, Anna goes to battle — literally — the kind with bullets, drones, and rockets.

Join us for an evening with Anna. Hear first-hand just what it’s like to cross borders under cover of darkness, to be chased by the militia, and to be interrogated by corrupt armed forces.

During her career, Anna has conducted over 60 investigations in conflict areas around the world, including Syria, Afghanistan, Pakistan, China, Zimbabwe, Nepal, Kenya, Yemen, Chechnya, Sri Lanka and Haiti. She is the star of award-winning documentary E-Team, which follows her and her husband as they document human rights abuses in Syria and beyond. She was named one of the “24 women of 2012” by L’Express magazine.

Most recently Anna spent time on Nauru conducting research into Australia’s offshore detention facility there and exposing the human rights abuses refugees, and asylum seekers are forced to endure by the Australian Government.

This is your opportunity to hear from an amazing woman who embodies the courage, passion, and commitment of Amnesty International.

Refreshments provided. Free/Koha.
