October Café Scientifique: How volcanoes can mess up your day (even in Wellington!).

Currently, there are a few volcanic rumblings happening around the country and the world. Natalia Deligne from GNS Science is going to talk to us about how volcanic eruptions in New Zealand and even places as far away as Chile can impact our daily lives. You'll learn why volcanic ash is the worst name ever, and what to expect and do should you encounter the stuff.

Dr Natalia Deligne is a volcanic hazard and risk modeller at GNS Science. She is also part of the GeoNet volcano monitoring team. She focuses on what happens once an eruption is underway - both from a hazard modelling and societal impact viewpoint.

Cafe Scientifique Wellington has found a new home. Formerly known as Science Express (Te Papa) it is a place where anyone can come along and enjoy a range of science speakers in a relaxed, friendly environment. The evening consists of a short talk followed by a Q&A. The talks are aimed at non-scientists, so everyone can enjoy and learn more about new scientific ideas.
