Module One of the popular Certificate in the Pastoral Care of Ageing People, facilitated by the Reverend Anne Russell-Brighty, will be held at venues in Christchurch and Auckland this year.

Entitled ‘Walking on Holy Ground - introduction to nurturing the spirit in aged care’, these workshops are designed to encourage ministry development among lay and ordained Christians in the area of aged care. Key topics include how to minister to those who have moved to residential care complexes, to people in grief and those with special needs, and how to care for people with dementia and their loved ones.

The course director is the Reverend Anne Russell-Brighty, an Anglican deacon with a background in community work and ministry to the elderly.

Anne says:
“These experiential events aim to provide practical advice to those involved in ministering to older people in different settings and circumstances within our communities, in order to enhance their insight into the pastoral and spiritual care needs of the aged and, thus, improve the quality of their interactions with others.”

The Certificate is awarded after completion of Modules One, Two and Three.
