Learn a fun chair dance choreography and discover all the tricks behind basic chair moves and how to make them look elegant, sexy and effortless.

Level: Suitable for all levels. Good general fitness level required
Limited space to 12 students

Course Content:
- Fitness based warm up on the chair
- Strengthening and lengthening exercises on the chair
- Chair technique
- Group chair routine
- Opportunity to perform on 11th August

What to wear or bring:
Please wear something comfortable that you can easily move in and that won’t get caught in the chair. Preferably a fitted top and long pants and socks or tights, fishnets and shorts. Low dance heels optional.

Bring a water bottle and towel. If you have your own performers chair you are most welcome to bring it. Please contact me beforehand.

Use your Coney Bow 10 class card.

If you plan on attending the classes casually please check beforehand that there is a space available for you. You can book a class at least 24 hours prior to it by sending an email. Your place will be secured only once payment is made online via direct credit.

If you would like to sign up for the course after having attended the first class casually, the $16 will be deducted from the total cost of the course.

Registration for the course will close on 7th July.

A performance opportunity is available for students who have attended at least 4 classes of the course. And extra $20 is charged to cover rehearsal time, studio hire and potential costume.

The performance will be held on Thursday 11 August at The Winchester as part of Coney & Etta fundraiser show. Please register your interest in performing when booking your spot in the course.

Coney bow and Chair Dancing:
Coney got acquainted with chair dancing while studying the choreography of “Mein Herr” from Cabaret as one of the papers of her Masters in Dance. Since then she has made it one of her trademark as a cabaret and burlesque performer. Her burlesque chair routine “The Dancer in Green” has been selected in festivals around the world (Ottawa, Australia, New Orleans and New York) and won her the title of Duchess of the New Zealand burlesque Festival 2014.

All around dance geek with a passion for vintage musicals Coney Bow has been dancing all her life. Armed with 30 years of technical dance experience she has performed around the world. Coney was awarded the title of Duchess of the Festival at the New Zealand Burlesque Festival in 2014 and 2015 won the title of "Most Dazzling Dancer" at the Finals of the burlesque competition Grand Tease New Zealand 2015.

When she is not performing Coney is an accomplished dance teacher. After training in body alignment in New york and studying a Masters in dance in Paris, she moved to New Zealand where she has been teaching Contemporary, jazz, neo classical, vintage and cabaret classes since October 2006.
