The dapper-dressed six-piece Cheap Fakes is a much loved live band for good reason. With suave moves and catchy tunes, their brass-fuelled funk and soulful ska have been moving festival crowds for nearly seven years.
They have a serious festival resume including Woodford Folk Festival, Surfers Paradise Festival, Golden Days Festival, Big Pineapple Festival, Mitchell Creek Blues ‘n’ Roots Festival, Caloundra Music Festival, Valley Fiesta and Island Vibe, and soon the Nelson Arts Festival will be added to that list!
2015 saw the band release their third album Modern Vintage, recorded with Grammy nominated John Merchant who has worked with the likes of Michael Jackson, Lenny Kravitz and Barbra Streisand.
Modern Vintage comes off the back of 2010’s Stones & Sticks and Hand Me Downs (2012) as well as a bunch of supports including Melbourne Ska Orchestra, Cody ChesnuTT, The Black Seeds and Kora.
