Our day starts with creativity as we enjoy mask making or wooden spoon puppet making. Animal masks, monster masks, masks that represent a favourite character or enjoy the festive season and make a Christmas mask/puppet. If you took our October holiday programme, this session is very different although the mask making process is similar.

Following this, we get to know one another with drama games that help children relax, have fun, and build close relationships with one another.

After morning tea, using our masks as inspiration, we create the stories through drama about our characters. This is an opportunity to explore what makes an interesting character and create profiles.

Once we know who our characters are, we join with other characters and interlink our stories. Children work in groups to develop a presentation about their characters and the world they live in. There are seriously edible team prizes up for grabs, which makes the activity even more fun!

After an action packed morning, it’s time to enjoy lunch and have some free play time. Children will be welcome to spend more time on their mask creations and puppets during lunch. Older children are supervised on the adjacent playground and sports fields.

After lunch, we spend time finishing our masks or puppets and adding layers of detail. Once the masks are finished – it’s time to parade our creations. Check out our facebook site for our amazing masked creations.

Following this, we move into the main event of the day: devising our own dramas. Children will work in groups to create their own stories and act them out. It’s the Christmas season and some of the most interesting stories are created during this time.

Perfect for 4 to 10 years old.
