Esplanade Day is back in 2016 in Palmerston North's most beautiful gardens.
Victoria Esplanade will once again come alive with a fantastic mix of live entertainment, activities, food, culture, and family fun!

Esplanade Day will showcase a variety of community groups and local organisations, as well as local and national performers, bands, and dance groups. It is a great opportunity to learn and get involved with some of our local organisations and support our local talent, while enjoying a relaxing day in the park!

There will be plenty of food to taste and stalls to browse around at Esplanade Day, as well as endless entertainment for the kids - free bouncy castles, slides, horse rides, amusements, face painting, balloons and much more!

Victoria House Stage - 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
What do you get when 4 jazzmen play funked up versions of the music by the fab 4? – The Funky Beatles! Esplanade Day welcomes them to play for the first time.
The Beatles knew a thing or two about how to write a song and how to look good while doing it too. We salute the lads who captured the hearts and minds of every teenage girl across the universe, and play all the hits by the lads from Liverpool and a few others as well ....
Featuring an unlikely combination of jazz gents, these guys will make you Twist and Shout after a Hard Day’s Night!

Back by popular demand is The Biggest Little Circus!
This show is big! bold! And loud! An action packed, high energy explosion of street theatre! With a small cast of three, this really is the Biggest Little Circus show. Including everything from high skilled juggling, aerial acrobatics and even a human changing room.
You can't miss their leotards and you don't want to miss their finale. The Biggest Little Circus is a show full of audience interaction, a whole lot of kiwi charm and plenty of lycra.

Also in the "Kids Zone" there will be plenty of entertainment, rides and activities to do for the kids as well as local and national groups performing all sorts of dance and music. Our special feature act is The Mighty Maui Puppet Show

Audience children play the parts of Maui’s dolphins, Maui’s brothers, fish, forest birds and a giant eel called Tunaroa. They puppeteer, dance and sing along to original songs, while immersed in non-stop interactive action and drama.
An up-beat puppet musical written and performed by Jeffrey Addison and Whaitaima Te Whare, about the deeds of our own super hero – Maui Tikitiki-a-Taranga, including his fishing up of land, slowing down the sun, shape-shifting and bringing fire to the world.

So make sure you and your family get down to Esplanade Day and make the most of this exciting event.

A full programme with times and stages will be posted onlancewoodevents website nearer to the event.
