'Faka Fo`ou' (New Life) is an exciting series of three shows by six artists, exploring aspects of contemporary Tongan culture through film making, photography, painting and tapa.

Falevai Flava (First Glimpse) is a collaboration between mother and daughter tapa artists, Sulieti Fieme’a Burrows and Tui Emma Gillies. Their show will include one of the large-scale ngatu they created with local women in Sulieti’s home village of Falevai.

In 'Two Phazed', Emily Mafile'o and Tevita Latu explore their 'perfection of reality' through a collaboration of photography and mixed media painting that criss-crosses Aotearoa and Tonga.

And ‘Digital Fananga', is an art project by Vea Mafile'o and Jeremiah Tauamiti in the form of two short films, both in native tongue, based on Pasifika myths, legends and beliefs.

All the shows open on Auckland Art Festival’s White Night 12 March, with special entertainment, and the gallery hosts another opening at 5pm on 13 March, to welcome visiting delegates from the Pacific Arts Association International Symposium.
