It's time for another First Friday (of the month) Party! Our new Town Square (which looks a lot like a circle) has been officially opened, and we invite you all to enjoy it with a squircle themed community party.

DJ Denver Grenell will bring his smooth and funky Friday night flavours, there'll be games and spotty face painting for kids of all ages, a hammock hangout zone and more. Delicious food will be available for sale in the Square(circle) including Ant North's satays & C'est Cheese's famous raclette.
Or bring a picnic, fish n chips, or a pizza from up the road at Baker.

Plus, in the creative spirit of First Friday's, we invite you to help make some squircular artwork inspired by Japanese legendary artist Yayoi Kusama. Now in her 90's, in her later career, she has had a 'dots obsession'. While she also creates dot paintings on canvas and board, one of her most well-loved installation works features a white room gradually becoming 'obliterated' by stickers given out to gallery visitors, who become participating artists in the process.

For some reason, we're thinking a lot about squares and circles.. so come along and join in making some sticker based artwork which will then be publicly exhibited in Feathy... Huge thanks to sponsors Sticky Business and Featherston's Own Trust, for making this possible: cheers guys you rock!

Even more plus... just over the road at Loco Coffee and Books, they and 'zine queen Murtle Chickpea have been running a 'Bad Artist Competition' (sic). The resulting exhibition opening and prizegiving will be happening 6:45pm - 8pm, so you can pop back and forward and enjoy both events! So much awesome in one night...

First Fridays is a popular concept in the US, they often have an arts focus, afternoon/evening events with late openings, exhibitions, and networking, all with strong community flavour. We look forward to bringing you more FF fun times!
