The popular Fern Walk leads you through the most intact part of what is one of the regions most ancient and accessible remnants of native bush – Totara Reserve. The Fern Walk will take you through stunning native bush with many iconic trees to be seen, including totara, matai, rimu and kahikatea. The birdlife is another highlight of this walk, with native birds such as Tui, Fantail, Bellbird and the Kereru Wood Pigeon making their home here. At the end of the walk, you’ll get to enjoy a classic kiwi BBQ lunch (included in the walk price) held at the Totara Reserve camp ground, nestled alongside the Pohangina River.

Bookings are essential – no ticket sales on the day.
