Space Craft Systems presents an open day at WikiLab, the first dedicated WikiHouse development space in the world. Gain insight into the work of the leading global WikiHouse Team:

- Learn about the research and development behind crafting affordable, healthy, safe housing that doesn’t cost the earth. This includes lessons gained on strong yet flexible framing, breathable non-toxic cladding & insulation systems, low-cost smart building tech and adaptable lightweight foundations.

- Discover how ordinary people can engage in the process of building high-performance homes that sit lightly on the earth, appropriate to our seismically active environment and the threat of rising sea levels. Join the discussion on how we conceive and make our built environment and who gets to build it.

There are 20 spaces per session, so be sure to register.

Koha welcome.

FESTA is a vibrant weekend festival celebrating the unique urban environment of Christchurch and the creative urban regeneration that has emerged from it.

The theme for FESTA 2016 is ‘We Have the Means’, which focuses on citizen-initiated urban regeneration and sustainability through the reuse of waste materials in design. The ‘means’ we are celebrating includes both the people of Christchurch and visitors to the city, who care about the city’s development and flourishing, and the materials that we are able to repurpose and divert from landfill, which are then used to create functioning, beautiful and interesting objects for Christchurch.

Our headline event, Lean Means – a spectacular temporary city made from ‘waste’ materials, is set to attract thousands and is live for one night only on Saturday 22 October (rain date 23 October).
