Zero Waste Ōtautahi is an initiative focused on reducing our waste by developing our resourceful habits. This work launches at FESTA 2016 with two projects:

The Zero Waste Map of Ōtautahi Christchurch.
This map will have locations marked for shops, markets and services that enable daily zero waste habits such as where there are bulk bins to avoid packaging, second-hand shops, farmers markets or local food cafes and so on. We will make this map publicly available and hope to support the businesses involved to track the impact of the map on their trade.

The Zero Waste Village of Resourcefulness.
Skilled craftspeople undertake high-quality crafts that are zero waste in nature in a village of temporary shelters. These structures are designed and fabricated from waste materials by Ara students as part of FESTA’s headline extravaganza, Lean Means.

Head to the corner of Montreal and Gloucester streets.
This project is presented by Rekindle.
