This event features music from Alexander McFarlane, (Viola). Alex is the son of APO players Norman McFarlane and Ann Draffin and has played for the friends on many occasions.
He is currently studying at the Guildhall, London and in March as prize-winner of the King’s College London Symphony Orchestra Concerto competition played Hindemith’s viola concerto “Der Schwanendreher” with the KCLSO. At the end of June 2016 Alex "had a blast last week playing Berlioz's Symphonie Fantastique with Sir Simon Rattle and the LSO-Guildhall Symphony Orchestra."
He is now looking forward to starting his Fellowship with the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra, where he will be for the next couple of months! Alex's recital will be followed by an interview with Rachael Brand, the Director of APO Connecting. Barry Clapham will interview Rachel. There will be a light lunch to end the morning.
