Welcome to ICS Close Quarter Combat Training.

Join us for a full day of learning, to use your body as a weapon including escape combatives, ground defence, edged weapon and blunt weapon defence and more all in a mix of striking drills, stress drills and aggression drills.There will be some other added surprises as well.

Please note this event will be mentally and physically demanding and while you aren't required to be in peak physical condition, a moderate level of fitness is required.

We specialise in teaching people realistic and effective street self-defence.

Close Quarter Combat (CQC) is a modern and realistic self-defence system. It is a hybrid blend of many different martial arts and combat systems and is one of the world’s most effective self-defence systems.

We teach people from all walks of life,all skill levels.So whether you a raw beginner, law enforcement professional or an experienced martial artist,you will find that ICS Close Quarter Combat is easy to learn and will provide you with the highest level of self-defense training available.

Training starts with a short road run to get the blood flowing and body warmed up, we believe that cardiovascular fitness is an integral aspect of being prepared for violence – fit to fight. We will stop off on the beach for some conditioning exercises that are challenging, rewarding and functional to combative training. Exercises are bodyweight exercises such as press ups, squat and sit up variations with a few twists thrown in.

After a stretch out the fun begins.

Striking drills, stress drills, aggression drills and general mayhem is the theme of the day.

Punches, open hand strikes, elbows, knees and kicking techniques are the backbone of a good self-defence arsenal as they provide the end user with stopping power to twart an attack. Pad drills and kick shield drills are instructed in circuit style to help candidates to become more comfortable with striking techniques in multiple ranges.

Aggression drills:
Turning a defence to an aggressive fight finishing offensive is our ethos. This, in our opinion, should be the essence of any self-protection program. The transition from a normal everyday mindset to one of extreme aggression (combative) does not come natural to most people so attention should be paid to it. These stress and aggression drills will quickly familiarise the candidate with the transition.

Escape combative breakaways against;
- Chokes.
- Grabs.
- Headlocks.
- Bearhugs.

Edged weapon Defence;
In general, knife defence is probably the most misunderstood aspect of self-defence. There are so many myths and contradictions, most self-defense systems make much too many assumptions on how the attacker is going to attack with a knife and train for this. The reality of knife attacks is very different, they are usually extremely aggressive and fast so the subject should be approached from a different perspective.

Ground Defence:
Participants learn the fundamentals of defending themselves should they find themselves on the ground (worst place to be in a fight) The emphasis is always on getting to your feet as quick as possible.
We will cover chokes on the ground, being punched, kicked, stabbed and held at gunpoint.

Blunt instrument defence:
Defence against blunt instruments such as sticks, baseball bats and bottles etc are covered in great depth.

Situational awareness and the combative mindset:
How many time have you heard someone who was attacked say that their attacker came out of nowhere? Well, nobody comes out of nowhere (unless they are a ninja!) it is just that the victim was not totally aware of their surroundings or “situationally aware”. This
survival skill can be learned and we will guide you on the way with a detailed look at awareness levels and how you can fine tune them
