Hello Auckland Women and Men,
For the first time in 5 years, WWW4Peace (Women Walk and Work for Peace), is extending our Peace Walk and celebration of IWD to Auckland. This year WWW4Peace, IWPG (International Women’s Peace Group) and newly established Nirvana Foundation have come together to organize an International Women’s Day event in Auckland. We want to take this opportunity to invite you to the event on March 8, 2016.

Continuing the momentum from the four previous Peace events in Wellington, we would want to further the steps of fostering and raising awareness for the Culture of Peace in Auckland. Your support and endorsement of our event is important for us to build opportunity to encourage participation, advocacy, immersion and support for various groups already doing valuable peace work for empowering women, supporting work against violence on women and children, protest against wars. We hope to see you at the event!

The IWD is on March 8, 2016. The proposed event’s program is as follows:
- A Peace Walk from Britomart’s Queen Elizabeth (QEII) Square to Auckland University Student Quad will be starting at 11:15 am to 12:00pm. Assembly at 11:00 am. (You may bring your flag or banner to the March ) Maata Wharehoka will do a Maori prayer and blessing at the start of the launch.
- Speeches at the Auckland University Student Quad (Deputy Mayor Penny Hulse will welcome the arrival of the participants and give a speech ; the Consul General Arlene R. Gonzales-Macaisa; Albanian Hon Consul Dr Tane Taylor; Ranjna Patel, Nirvana Foundation; IWPG and WWW4Peace)
Inbetween the speeches (after Dr Tane Taylor) will be a self-defence interactive session (Contact Training Systems)
- Peace Picnic at Albert Park from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm. Food and drinks will be distributed (courtesy of Auckland Businesses supporting International Women’s Day) at the Quad and enjoyed at the park with some performers celebrating the day with songs and dances. Bring a picnic blanket and celebrate the day with us. A closing prayer will be done by Maata Wharehoka after the performances.
- In case of rain, only the PeaceWalk will be cancelled. All other Festivities will be all held at Auckland University Student Quad at noon.
Peace----we hope to see you there.
