So how does an ‘unknown’ performer from Finland become the ‘Funniest Comedian in the World’?

Ismo Leikola is very big in Finland. About as big as a comedian can get.
He has performed comedy in his home country, Finland, and Northern Europe. He plays major arenas and has his own TV show.

Then, in 2014, he travelled to the USA and took part in the Laugh Factory's global competition and won the title of ’Funniest Comedian in the World’. He won by a landslide thus claiming the title and opening the door to USA audiences.

Fortunately for local audiences, during a holiday in New Zealand last year he met the team at The Classic who were so intrigued and amused by him that they invited him back for the Comedy Festival.
Good news! Despite Ismo's increasing demand around the globe, he has accepted our invitation and returns for a season at the 2016 NZ International Comedy Festival.

Ismo’s style will be very popular with New Zealand audiences as it is based on his unique observations of the world from a country that is very similar to our own.

Reviews:
“Leikola is the Scandinavian Mitch Hedburg; an oddball with a few extra twists.” - The List
“For a man speaking his second language, Ismo Leikola is uncannily incisive” - The Independent
“He is pretty much the master of this comedy technique.” - The Scotsman
