Stop the War - Start the Healing!

J Day is a A worldwide protest against prohibition, a celebration of Kiwi cannabis culture, and this year is marking 40 years of enforcement of the Misuse of Drugs Act, 25 years of J Day, and 20 years of the ALCP!

J Day is a Day of Action for Cannabis Law Reform, held on the first Saturday in May every year in over 200 cities around the world. J Day has been held in New Zealand since 1992 - we are the original "protestival"!

Given the unprecedented coverage of cannabis law reform lately, now is the time to stand up and raise your voice. Cannabis law reform is mainstream – only 15% support prohibition according to the latest UMR poll – so join us in making a stand. This year’s theme is: “Stop the War – Start the Healing”

J Day is presented in association with TLCC - The Legal Cannabis Collective - and will feature music, information and activation. This is the first J Day in many years in Whangarei, so please come and show your support.

Essential information about J Day:
- A donation would be greatly appreciated
- No alcohol, glass, dogs or annoyances
- Dress to impress
- Bring a sign, banner or wear a pro-reform t shirt
- Bring your buddies - spread the word

Can you help? We need volunteers to help with promoting the event, setting up, helping on our info stall, running things on the day, and packing down. Contact us if you want to be involved.

About NORML NZ Inc:
We are NORML. It’s time to stop arresting responsible cannabis consumers. Responsible cannabis use causes no harm to society and should be of no interest to the government. At least 400,000 Kiwis choose to use cannabis; few abuse it.

NORML supports the removal of all penalties for the private possession of marijuana by adults, cultivation for personal use, and the casual non-profit transfers of small amounts. NORML also supports the development of a legally controlled market for marijuana. Our preferred model is for tightly-regulated non-profit Cannabis Social Clubs serving their local communities.

NORML’s “Principles of Responsible Cannabis Use” defines acceptable conduct. We show courtesy, integrity, perseverance and self control toward all.

Before you come to J Day, learn your rights at including this Statement to Police:

I wish to exercise all my legal rights including my right to silence and my right to speak to a lawyer before I say anything to you. I do not consent to be searched. I wish to be released without delay. Please do not ask me questions, because I will not willingly talk to you until I speak to a lawyer. Thank you for respecting my rights.”
