Signs of Protest is a glimpse into the history of activism in Aotearoa and some of the major events that have changed the look of our social and political landscape.
For this exhibition photographer and curator Jos Wheeler brings together a selection of photographic work by some of New Zealand’s leading photographers capturing protest actions over the past 100 years.
The images cover a wide range of protests in New Zealand including the Waterfront Workers Strike, anti-Vietnam War protests, the occupation of Bastion Point, apartheid-era anti-Springbok rugby tours, nuclear testing in the Pacific, Māori land rights marches and deep sea oil drilling.
