Curator talk by Ewen Cameron.

Ewen Cameron, Curator Botany, will introduce Bank's Florilegium - the plants, the names, and the artwork.

Ewen’s talk will focus on the five plants depicted by Areta Wilkinson’s delicate brooches and pins of silver and gold made in 2004.

They brooches and pins are based on the herbarium specimens collected by Banks and Solander during Cook’s first visit to New Zealand, which are held in the Auckland Museum’s herbarium.

The talk will also feature the displayed Banks Florilegium proof print of native sand-binding sedge, pīngao, based on the art work of Sydney Parkinson, created during the same voyage.
