This event is part of Conservation Week 2016.

Come along to Lake Papaitonga (Lake Waiwiri) and help restore this wetland which is an important refuge for birds that depend on wetlands or lowland forests for their survival. It is home to waterfowl and wading birds, as well as forest species on the lake's margins. We will be planting 400 wetland plants to help restore this valuable habitat.

Please meet at the Arawhata Road entrance, not Buller Road.

What to bring and wear:
- Sturdy footwear and gardening gloves if you have them (gumboots if raining)
- Warm clothing
- Spades not required as all holes are pre-dug

Biscuits and water for morning tea will be provided, bring additional food or drink if required.

A great family trip out and have some fun!
