- Getting started workshop on 13th November 11:30pm - 1pm
- Follow up class TBA.

This workshop aims to get you on the web. If you are a photographer, painter or a creative of any kind you need a website to show and possibly sell your work. The idea is to create a small (1-4) page website during this day. We will use Adobe Muse. If you don't have Muse you can download a trial version or use one of the computers at The PhotoWorkshop.

When embarking on creating your own website, there are four basic steps:
- Plan - how many pages will your site have and what are your design ideas?
- Create - use a software such as Adobe Muse to build your site.
- Promote - inform your audience about your site, and help search engines find your site.
- Maintain - keep your site fresh with regular new content so that your audience will revisit.

The first step, plan, is the most important. When planning you need to:
- Decide on a purpose for your website.
- Identify your audience - customers, colleagues etc.
- Create a storyboard - design your site architecture (single page or a home page linking to multiple pages).
- Author and collect your resources or assets for your site - text, photos, documents.

During the day we will look at:
- How to set up a new site
- How to set up a master page
- How to add navigation
- Create headers and footers
- Place images
- Create hyperlinks
- Work with web fonts
- Publish your site
- Make changes to your site from anywhere

To get the best out of this workshop it is important that you do some groundwork - let's call it homework! We will provide you with extensive notes to help you understand the basics and assist you with your design ideas. As an example, you will be asked to complete a mini exercise in making shapes. Just register your interest and these notes will be sent to you.
