Music traveler, music teacher, multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, composer, songwriter, poet and dreamer from South of Chile.

When Matias was a child, his father established a restaurant to sustain the family, which eventually turned into a cultural house that held live musical performances, in the manner of Peña (a grass-roots community meeting place where popular folklore (usually Nueva Cancion) and other artistic expressions accompanied by food and drink are showcases) back in the '80s. In that environment he had the chance to meet some outstanding musicians, poets, writers, and actors of the time. The exposure to such the artistic ambience has further encouraged his aspiration for artistic expression. His music work is largely influenced by the roots of the native culture and the traditions of his homeland.

His work presents aspects linked with different influential social events that took place in the Chilean history and the different realities of the lives of the native Mapuche people (indigenous inhabitants of South-Central Chile) exploring the themes of love, injustice, and dreams of better life and equality.

Matias has been in New Zealand just over a year and currently based in Wellington Matias has been performing at different venues as a solo performer, as well as a lead part of a Latin trio set (including vocals, acoustic guitar, bass guitar and percussion) and with a Spanish Flamenco band as a lead vocalist, guitarist and a percussionist. Matias often collaborates with other musicians, depending on the requirements of the pursued music project or a show.
