Join us for our second instalment of the Merivale Lane Theatre Music Series:

Featuring Natalie Elms on vocals and keys, Dougal Canard on bass and keys, Lana Law on saxophone and Andrew Couper on drums. They will be presenting a 50-minute programme including some favourite jazz standards.

About the musicians:
Natalie Elms - Natalie teaches vocals at Rangi Ruru. A nationally recognised songwriter who has performed in London, Australia, and Asia, she enjoys playing her own material as well as singing jazz and ballads.

Dougal Canard - Dougal has performed in numerous ensembles around New Zealand and spent five years overseas performing on cruise ships. He plays piano, guitar and bass and currently also works as a teacher and band leader in Christchurch.

Lana Law - After graduating from Massey University, Lana put her music degree into practice playing in a showband on cruise ships for four years. Now you can find her playing in and directing various big bands such as the Garden City Big Band and the recently formed All Girl Big Band. She is also an Itinerant Music Teacher here in Christchurch teaching saxophone and clarinet in schools and privately.

Andrew Couper - Andrew has played drums with the Garden City Big Band for 9 years and counts the the late Stu Buchanan who led the band for over 20 years as an important musical mentor. He regularly plays jazz in a piano trio called Vacoda Trio. Andrew has taught drums at Rangi Ruru since 2003.
