Join cello-based folk-rock group Milkthistle for an intimate hour of original music.

Singer-songwriter Hamish Graham looks forward to airing their sounds in this cozy, characterful venue.

“We don’t perform very often,” says Hamish, “and rather than a traditional bar gig in town, we wanted this to have more of a house concert feel – like someone's lounge.”

Milkthistle formed in 1993, when Hamish was seeking a band to deliver his growing number of original songs. He liked the idea of a group that utilised the cello, with its rich sonority, melodic possibilities and power in the lower register, to complement drums and guitar.

Over the years, the band has spiralled through many Wellington music scene regulars. Come witness the re-re-rebirth of Milkthistle in this first gig for the current line-up:

- Hamish Graham: guitars / vocals (The Shot Band, Hobnail Boots, The Hard Core Troubadours)
- Delia Shanly: drums / vocals (Darren Watson Band and Matt Hay & The Makers)
- David Downes: keyboards / bass / vocals (multi-media artist, formerly Mahinarangi Tocker band)
- Robert Ibell: cello (NZSO, Aroha String Quartet, Stroma, Hammers & Horsehair)
