Kainui Road Vineyard is pleased to announce they will be hosting some amazing artists this summer. The Cellar Door Sessions will be held regularly in the beautiful setting of the Cellar Door lawn.

Kicking off the series is the award-winning Modern Maori Quartet. This suave Maori showband are in the same vein as forebears such as the Quin Tikis and the Howard Morrison Quartet. Made up of accomplished musicians and actors James Tito, Maaka Pohatu, Matariki Whatarau and Francis Kora (bass guitarist and vocalist with major kiwi band KORA), who hail from different corners of Aotearoa and perform together as the core members of MMQ. Together this talented bunch will weave their musical and acting abilities into an evening of hearty humour and sweet music.

Local Troy Kingi is also an accomplished musician and actor, having appeared in Mt Zion, The Pa Boys and more recently The Hunt for the Wilderpeople. He has made his name on the New Zealand roots scene as a multi-talented singer, song-writer and instrumentalist.

Taylah Barker is another local musician, singer, song-writer. Taylah lives in Kerikeri and is working on her 1st EP. Taylah belongs to a band and three members in the band are flat mates. Music is what she lives for.

“After the hugely successful UB40 concert in January we are looking to host a range of events throughout the summer. As well as major concerts in our amphitheatre, we are planning a number of afternoon/evening events on the more intimate setting of the Cellar Door lawn.” explains Kainui Road’s Helen Thompson, “Our Cellar Door Sessions aim to host some great entertainment while showcasing our local talent.”

For this first event on October 22nd gates will open at 3pm and the event is family-friendly with children 14yrs and under able to attend free of charge with a paying adult. A range of delicious street food and of course Kainui Road wines and craft beer will be available on site, but concert-goers may bring sealed water and non-commercial food.

Tickets are only $35 and are on sale via Eventfinda and from the Kainui Brew Co stall at the Packhouse Markets, Kerikeri Road (held every Saturday). Capacity is limited so advance booking is strongly advised.
