The most spine-tingling time of the year is here again! Celebrate Halloween with MOTAT’s annual Olde Hallows Eve event.

Come disguised in your spookiest costume and eeriest mask and be transported back in time to Victorian Halloween and beyond. Watch your back as ghosts and ghouls lurk around every corner eager to haunt you as you explore the historic grounds of MOTAT.

Throughout history, people have used masks to hide their identity and to transform into someone/something else.

Like a waking dream, the lines of reality become blurred and distorted. Explore the idea of ‘the other’ with sound, light, music and monsters – is it the metamorphoses of your dreams or your nightmares?

Learn a lesson from Dr Frankenstein as he brings his monster to life, or explore the haunted maze of Dr Jekyll’s lair. Dance with masked revellers in the Metamorphoses Ballroom and dare yourself to enter the Crypt. Explore The Market of a Hundred Faces, the Ghost Town, the dark Steampunk Wonderland and a lot more!

Some of the more unusual Victorian practices of this period are also highlighted - visitors may find the custom of death masks both morbid and bizarre as they provide a fascinating example of how differently death has been viewed in another era.

Join us and discover masked monsters and ghostly apparitions in this uniquely frightening event that wherever you turn there is something new to discover.
