The Vietnam War remains New Zealand’s most controversial conflict experience. Fifty years on, what is the significance of a war that humbled a superpower and politicised a generation of young people around the world? This course examines the political, diplomatic, military and social impact of the conflict for New Zealand, including its lingering legacies.

Ian McGibbon and Roberto Rabel are diplomatic and military historians who are the authors of two companion official histories of New Zealand’s involvement in the Vietnam War.
