Nice to Meet You is the first stage play production by I-start Chinese Theatre—the first Chinese theatre group in Auckland, and indeed New Zealand.

The play is an originally-scripted story about four different generation’s love, marriage and relationships. It was a huge success when it was staged in The PumpHouse Theatre in Takapuna last year and received fantastic reviews from the Chinese community and media in Auckland, and was reported overseas.

Now this play is coming back to the PumpHouse Theatre, and will tell the same stories with a different ending and different music.

I-Start Chinese Theatre was established in September 2014 to bring original live theatre in the Mandarin language to Auckland. Its aims included providing an outlet for Chinese New Zealanders interested in performing in amateur theatre, providing live entertainment for the Auckland Chinese community, and an educational opportunity for students of Mandarin in Auckland.

Murder on Changde Road

This play is another originally-scripted production by I-start Chinese Theatre. This thriller in the style of Agatha Christie, tells a story about a murder happened on 56 Changde Road in old Shanghai. A millionaire was murdered in the party at his own house. Who did this and why? You would not feel bored in this mysterious and nervous story staged by actors from I-start Chinese Theatre as well as amazed by the beautiful Qipao and old Shanghai style music.
