The US-based Irishman Paul Muldoon has won most poetry gongs going and is described as “the most significant English-language poet born since the second World War” by The Times Literary Supplement. His verse is infused with playfulness, complexity and rhythm. Muldoon is the author of twelve major poetry collections, the latest of which is One Thousand Things Worth Knowing, as well as smaller collections, criticism, translations, broadcast dramas, children’s books, libretti and songs, including one with his late friend the musician Warren Zevon, covered by Bruce Springsteen. He is currently a professor at Princeton University and poetry editor at The New Yorker. He sometimes plays in a band called Rogue Oliphant. The poet’s poet is in conversation with Bill Manhire.
